A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to set fire to a synagogue in Newtown in Sydney's inner west earlier this month.
NSW Police said detectives arrested a 33-year-old Camperdown man overnight after executing search warrants at two addresses on Pyrmont Bridge Road.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences and will appear in the Downing Centre Local court today.
Several red swastikas were also graffitied along the front fence of the synagogue on Georgina Street.
