Amy Adams used to have a "very specific idea" of how to parent her daughter

The 50-year-old actress - who has Aviana, 14, with her husband Darren Le Gallo - admits that her approach to parenting has evolved over time

The 'Big Eyes' star - who has been married to Darren since 2015 - told OK! magazine: "Strangely, I think I had a more succinct idea of how I thought I should do everything when she was younger - a very specific idea of how I would parent."

Amy believes parenthood has actually helped her to become more patient.

The Hollywood star explained: "Each person brings their own special skill set and it gets developed over time.

"I have become more patient because I learned that skill through parenting."

Amy also revealed that she's made a specific promise to her daughter.

She shared: "I've promised I won't talk too much about her now and how she is. I'll talk about her in the past, but not now.

"I just try to stay available to her so that when she is in these moments where she wants to talk and share, I'm present for them."

Amy recently acknowledged that motherhood has changed her life and her career.

The actress explained that her daughter has become the focus of her attention, rather than her career in the movie business.

She told Variety: "Every moment needed to be dedicated to the care and keeping of my child.

"Motherhood did redirect my priorities. And I think that changed some relationships. That was hard, but I don't think it's uncommon."

Amy also enjoys the experience of being an older actress in Hollywood.

She said: "It gets so much better. But there are things I miss: my joints working, collagen, things like that."
