    New Zealand lawn bowls legend Val Smith has retired from international competition


    The 59-year-old leaves elite bowls after a record 667 matches for New Zealand...winning two World Championship titles - one singles and one in the pairs - and a total of nine World Championship medals.

    Since her debut in 2003 Smith has also competed at five editions of the Commonwealth Games, winning one silver and three bronze medals.
