Emergency services have swarmed a South Auckland street where three people have sustained critical or serious injuries

Police say they were called to Kutukutu Street in Takanini - at about 7:50 - after what appears to be an altercation involving neighbours.

Hato Hone St John says two people are in critical condition - and one person is in a serious condition

They've been taken to hospital.

Police say the person believed to be responsible was tracked - fleeing in a car to Takanini School Road - where they were taken into custody.

Neighbours have told our newsroom they believe people were stabbed - while they had small children with them.
