A members bill classifying wage theft as a crime has passed Parliament

The bill was first authored by former Labour Party MP - Ibrahim Omer - but was taken over by "Camilla Belich" - when he failed to get in last election.

Belich says it has been a complicated process for a victim of theft to make a claim - and has deterred workers from seeking justice for wage theft.

The bill was passed with support from Labour, the Greens, Te Pati Maori and New Zealand First.
