    Farms and orchards in the Nelson Tasman region have been carved up by floodwaters following severe weather


    It is still in a local state of emergency with Government officials confirming the cost of damage will be in the millions.

    Properties in parts of the Motueka and Wai-Iti Valley appear to have fared the worst.

    Rural Support Trust Chair Richard Kempthorne says the river stock-banks weren't built for such unprecedented water levels.

    He says the events like them only come once every several decades.
