    Mark Wahlberg has called horse riding a "dangerous sport" after his daughter was injured during an equestrian competition

    The 54-year-old actor's daughter Grace, 15 - who he has with his wife Rhea Durham - was rushed to hospital with a broken collarbone after getting hurt during a competition earlier this month and The Departed star is shocked by the amount of risk involved.


    Asked about Grace's condition, Mark told Today: "She's good. She's just angry that she's not allowed to be back on the horse yet. She does have to take the time to recover. She broke her collarbone. She was rushed off to the hospital in an ambulance.

    "(Horse riding is) the most dangerous, nerve-wracking sport that I've ever watched and witnessed. But she loves it."

    Mark - who also has children Ella, 22, Michael, 19, and Brendan, 17, with Rhea - praised his youngest child for being "so dedicated" to horse riding.

    He said: "She has the discipline at 15 that it took me into my 40s to get. You think I get up early and do things to prepare? I mean, she's a machine.

    "She was just worried that we would be too concerned because of the dangers that we wouldn't let her ride again, but she's passionate about it so we have to let her pursue that."

    Wahlberg had previously thanked everybody who had wished Grace a speedy recovery after the incident.

    The Boogie Nights star said: "It's very, very scary, and I thank everybody for their support and well wishes."

    Mark revealed recently that he has been striving for a healthy work-life balance between his acting career and family commitments.

    Speaking to Us Weekly, he explained: "For me, everything I do now, it's for my kids. It's for their future."

    Mark was even joined by his family in Australia during the making of heist thriller film Play Dirty.

    The movie star said: "I try to find that balance. They came to Australia while I was making this movie to visit."

    Despite this, Wahlberg still remains ambitious about his movie career.

    The Family Plan 2 actor has already achieved lots of success, but he remains keen to "fulfill [his] creative endeavours".

    He explained: "[I'm] trying to find that balance of spending quality time with them, and then also being able to fulfill my creative endeavours."
