Warnings signs as new data indicates steadily declining oral health in New Zealand

The latest health survey shows self-rated oral health has declined from 80-percent to 77-percent between the 2020 and 2025.
It also shows less than two-thirds of adults are brushing their teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste.
New Zealand Dental Association's Robin Whyman says many people struggling to access care because of cost.
He says just under half of adults have seen a dentist in the past year.
