    Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a newborn baby boy in Auckland


    The 10-week-old was taken to Pukekohe Maternity Hospital in a critical condition on the 2nd of January..

    The infant was then transferred to Starship Hospital, where he died yesterday.

    Police say a 27-year-old woman and 23-year-old man have been jointly charged with ill treatment and neglect of a child.

    Further charges are being considered.
