Team Bike Exchange directeur sportif and driver Gene Bates has been expelled from cycling's Giro d'Italia after running into the back of a rider on this morning's sixth stage

Team Bike Exchange directeur sportif and driver Gene Bates has been expelled from cycling's Giro d'Italia after running into the back of a rider on this morning's sixth stage

Passenger Matt White copped a big fine.

Deceuninck Quickstep's Pieter Serry was brought down when when the car drove into the back of him 10 kilometres from the final summit.

An aching back appeared to be the only damage as he remounted and went on to complete the stage.

It was the second time this season Serry had been knocked off his bike by an official vehicle.
