Economists are confident the war's been won against inflation

Economists are confident the war's been won against inflation

Latest Stats NZ figures show the prices of petrol, diesel, travel and fresh produce have all fallen.

Petrol is 14.9 percent cheaper than a year ago, and fruit and vegetable prices have slid 8.3 percent.

Our inflation rate is due out next week - and ASB have it falling to 2.2 percent.

ASB Economist Mark Smith, says he's confident inflation is under control.

He says the weak economy means it'll stay under three percent and possibly two percent over the next year.
