The 35-year-old killed his mother and stabbed his father in Waikato's Otorohanga in October 2016.
He then went on to kill Mona Tuwhangai and Maurice O'Donnell at their bach about 60km from the town.
Bremner took his own life shortly after.
RNZ reports a coronial inquest has found the unpredictable nature of his schizophrenia - and not his mental health care - led to his attacks.
The coroner's ruled his illness suddenly and dramatically deteriorated.
