The cost of producing milk in New Zealand remains favourable against similar countries

The cost of producing milk in New Zealand remains favourable against similar countries

A Rabobank report shows farmers across the eight major dairy-exporting regions all have felt increasing milk production costs pressures in the last five years.

It states total costs have risen by around 14-percent, with 70-percent of the increase occurring since 2021.

Dairy Analyst, Michael Harvey says the most volatile item for dairy producers, is feed costs.

He says in New Zealand's case, that's largely down to fertiliser prices -- which spiked in 2022.
