    Signs of a gradual turn-around in the building sector


    New Stats NZ figures show new home building consents were down 7.2 percent annually to January.

    But 11-percent more homes were consented that month, compared to the year before.

    20-percent more standalone homes and 3.1-percent more multi-unit dwellings were approved.

    Consents were still lower than January 2022 and 2023.
