Frustration from Selwyn resident's over their council's response to the record rains

Heavy rains caused flooding and landslides in Canterbury and a state of emergency remains in place for Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.
About 50 properties in Selwyn have been damaged by flooding, with some farm's fields still underwater.
Some residents are now raising the situation wouldn't have been as bad, if Lake Ellesmere had been opened to the sea.
Emergency Minister Mark Mitchell, says a lot of work went into managing Lake Ellesmere's access.
He says they worked off the information they had and their united in the fact they've done all they could.
