Eiza Gonzalez "couldn't be more proud" of her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov, after he was forced to retire hurt from Wimbledon

The 35-year-old actress has shown support for her professional tennis player significant other after he injured his right pectoral while hitting at shot at the championships on Monday (07.07.25)

Dimitrov was leading world number one Jannik Sinner by two sets to love, and looked on course for victory when he suffered the heart-breaking injury.

After slumping to the ground, the Bulgarian star was given treatment off the court, but when he returned the emotional star was forced to retire hurt from the match.

Afterwards, Gonzalez was full of praise for her boyfriend, insisting he is a "winner".

She wrote on her Instagram Stories: "Love of my life. I couldn't be more proud of you. You are BEYOND outstanding. This is just a moment that will pass and will make you even stronger. But watching you today alongside the world was a reminder of who YOU are. You're a winner. We all saw it. And you'll do it again. [heart emoji] I love you @grigordimitrov (sic)"

Following the incident, a post on the official Wimbledon page read: "A sight we never want to see. Grigor Dimitrov is forced to retire while leading two sets to love. Everyone at #Wimbledon is wishing you a speedy recovery, Grigor"

Eiza commented: "A WINNER. He will build an even better story. Stronger inside and out. [heart emoji] (sic)"

Sinner also sympathised with his opponent, who has now retired hurt with injury at five consecutive Grand Slam tournaments.

He told Wimbledon's centre court crowd: "I don't know what to say. He is an incredible player and we all saw this today.

"He has been so unlucky in the past couple of years. He is an incredible player who is a good friend of mine. We understand each other very well off the court.

"Seeing him in this position - if there was a chance for him to be in the next round he would deserve it. I hope he has a speedy recovery."
