    The gas crisis, has left one of our largest companies reassessing its options


    The Government's been in talks with major users in recent weeks.

    The situation has got so bad, fertiliser manufacturer Ballance Agri-Nutrients has warned it may have to temporarily close its Taranaki plant.

    Fletcher boss Andrew Reding says they're looking at alternative energy sources, for its Gib factories in Christchurch and Tauranga.

    He says they're actively seeking alternative methodologies, to using gas.

    Rising electricity prices have also prompted Fletcher to hedge more electricity.
