    Wet and wild weather's set to lash the South Island's West Coast today


    MetService has orange wind and rain warnings for the entire coast, stretching from Buller to Fiordland.

    Canterbury high country, Southland, Central Otago and Stewart Island are also under wind warnings.

    MetService Meteorologist Michael Pawley says the frontal rain band and strong northwesterlies, could move north over the day.

    He says winds will peak in the early hours and the Canterbury high country could receive gusts of 130 kilometres an hour in exposed places.
