Legislation broadening the Defence Minister's powers to make uniformed-personnel fill posts - empty while civilian Defence Force staff are on strike - has passed its third and final reading

The Bill includes removing the requirement for Parliament to debate how the NZDF manages redeployment within its own organisation.
Judith Collins says it's a way of making sure national security isn't put at risk.
She says it ensures industrial action from workers will still have its intended effect, while ensuring critical activities can continue.
