A Rabobank report finds prices are two dollars per kilogram higher than a year ago.
This is fuelled in part by an ongoing decrease in global beef production - increasing demand for New Zealand exports in northern hemisphere markets.
Rabobank analyst Jen Corkran, says around 80-percent of beef produced in New Zealand is exported.
She says because the high export rate creates more competition on the home front, so we're seeing high prices in the supermarket - especially for the cheaper forms of beef, like mince.
