Amy Schumer "laughs the hardest" when she hits "rock bottom"

The Trainwreck actress - who announced earlier this month that she has split from husband Chris Fischer - reflected on her Jewish faith and how her family have been able to push forward through trying times in their lives.

In a video shared by author Noa Tishby on Instagram, she said: "I love Hanukkah. I was always really excited about it. Every time we light the candles, I feel like we've won.

"Jewish pride is the only way to fight against antisemitism. When things are the absolute worst is when my family is the funniest.

"Just when we hit rock bottom is when we can laugh the hardest. And I think that that's not unique to me."

Amy announced earlier this month that she and Chris - who are parents to six-year-old son Gene - had split after seven years of marriage.

Captioning a photo of the former couple riding a train, Amy - who overlayed the post with U2's track, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - wrote: "Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years.

"We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. (sic)"

The I Feel Pretty star then joked in the caption that her dramatic weight loss and professional chef Chris being a "hot James beard award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail" were not the causes for their break-up.

Amy ended the post by insisting she and her estranged spouse were still on good terms.

She wrote: "Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever."

Amy and professional chef Chris were first linked in November 2017 after they were photographed at a candlelit dinner together in New York.

Days after they went Instagram official with their relationship in February 2018, the couple got married in an intimate ceremony in Malibu, California,.

Amy shared a series of photos from their special day to Instagram, and she let the snaps speak for themselves by simply captioning the carousel with: "Yup."
