Don't expect house prices to skyrocket this year, like they have in years prior

Latest data from Cotality shows house values fell one-percent in the past year, and are now 17.6 percent below their 2021 peak.

The economic recovery could push prices up this year.

But Cotality Chief Property Economist Kelvin Davidson says any price growth is likely to be modest.

He says that's partly due to debt-to-income-ratio restrictions, and having higher housing supply relative to the population in the past.
