The Reserve Bank's remit may be expanded - as Labour considers a policy change

The Reserve Bank's remit may be expanded - as Labour considers a policy change

The coalition removed the bank's focus on maximum sustainable employment in 2023 - so its sole priority would be on its response to inflation.

Labour's finance spokesperson Barbara Edmonds says there are strong reasons to bring back the central bank's dual mandate - so it also looks at jobs.

She says it was there for a reason, and aligns with other countries.
