A South Island trio of ski mountains is geared down for the absence of tourist skiers from Covid 19

A South Island trio of ski mountains is geared down for the absence of tourist skiers from Covid 19

NZ Ski-owned Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt are relying on Kiwi skiers and snowboarders and have reduced staffing to reflect this.

Chief executive Paul Anderson says visitor numbers are likely to be down 30 to 40 percent for the Queenstown mountains.

He says the workforce has been halved as a result.

Anderson says Mt Hutt is more insulated because it's near Christchurch, and all the mountains are getting good Kiwi support.
