The hot, dry summer is set to continue -- with no significant rainfall expected for the coming weeks

New data from NIWA shows most of the country is facing dry conditions.

Particularly dry conditions are being recorded in Northland, parts of Auckland, the Waikato, southern Hawke's Bay, southern Otago, Southland and Stewart Island.

NIWA meteorologist Ben Noll says there could be some rainfall in the next week, but it won't be enough.

Southland has activated water restrictions, Tauranga's water supply has hit a record low, and Wellington Water is urging people to start saving water as well.
