    More than 112-thousand people are homeless in New Zealand


    Stats NZ analysis of the 2023 census, reveals about 13,000 more people became severely housing-deprived, since 2018.

    Maori and Pasifika each represented about a quarter.

    Principal analyst Rosemary Goodyear says more than three quarters of those severely housing deprived, fall into two categories.

    She says many are living in temporary accommodation and others are in uninhabitable housing.
