Nick Jonas loved starring alongside his wife and their daughter in A Very Jonas Christmas Movie

The 33-year-old actor has Malti Marie, three, with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Nick has revealed that he relished the experience of working with his family.

Nick - who also stars in the movie alongside his brothers, Joe and Kevin - told E! News: "We're playing ourselves. So, casting other people to be our family would not have been believable or worked. And it was just great to have them there and set the whole tone for the whole project.

"This film for us is obviously exaggerated and heightened versions of ourselves. But there's a lot of truth in there."

Nick appreciates being given the opportunity to work with his family.

He shared: "Isaac [Aptaker] and Elizabeth [Berger] who wrote the script and produced the movie alongside us.

"They spent a lot of time trying to understand us better. And put something on the screen that feels universal. And that families can connect with that doesn't have to be us for it to make sense and to feel like they can connect. And that's most important to us."

Earlier this year, Nick claimed that his family became "closer" after his dad suffered a cancer scare.

Kevin Jonas Sr was diagnosed with colon cancer back in 2017 and he's been in remission since 2018 - but Nick believes that the worrying health scare actually served to unite his family.

The singer - who stars in the Jonas Brothers alongside his siblings, Joe and Kevin - told People: "[The] more emotionally challenging periods really test your endurance.

"But [our dad] was just such a champion and so brave through our whole process. It [was] with such thoughtfulness that I think it helped all of us a lot and provided us with the encouragement we needed when in fact we were just trying to support him.

"Everyone has their own experience too in life's challenging moments and I'm so grateful that we have gotten to the other side of that and become closer as a family and stronger."
