Police have found a suitcase with a revolver and high-powered BB guns - after searching a vehicle spiked after it fled across Auckland last night

Senior Sergeant Brett Henshaw says a driver failed to stop for officers on State Highway 1 just after 10pm, but was stopped and arrested 50 kilometres down the road, near Mount Wellington.

He says officers found three BB guns, a 22-calibre revolver, a large knife, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

A 27-year-old man is due in Court today charged with traffic violations and possessing illegal items.
