New Zealand's housing market looks like it could be on a different trajectory to Australia

Cotality's Decoding 2026 Report shows almost three quarters of local respondents expect house prices to rise this year.

Canterbury is the most confident region - with that figure reaching 87-percent.

Cotality NZ Research Head Nick Goodall says Australia is performing better - but its growth is expected to slow.

He says their trend is going to be different to ours - and things should even out in 2026.
