Thousands of people are taking part in the country's largest surf-lifesaving competition in Ohope Beach in Bay of Plenty this weekend

The four-day Aon Surf Life Saving Championships got underway on Thursday.
Forty-six clubs are taking part, with a range of skill levels represented.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand Northern Region General Manager Zac Franich says plenty of relays and finals are scheduled over the next two days.
He says the champs are the pinnacle event in the surf life saving calendar.
