A view that speed limits can be raised in a balanced way

A view that speed limits can be raised in a balanced way

Auckland Council and The Government aren't on the same page about raising limits in the city and allowing for variable limits around schools.

National Road Carriers Policy and Advocacy, General Manager James Smith, says the speed limits should be set by central Government.

He says while speed is a factor in accidents it's not the only one.

Mr Smith says we need to crack down on distracted drivers because they are an underreported factor in crash data.
