Kelly Brook refused to move house because her dad's ashes were scattered in her garden

The 46-year-old beauty was keen to make a "fresh start" when she met now-husband Jeremy Parisi, but she held on to her former home "a bit too long" because of her memorial to Kenneth Parson, who died of lung cancer in 2007.

Speaking on UK TV show Loose Women, she said: "I stayed in my property, I was there for 16 years and it was very much my house, I had various relationships through that but when I met my husband Jeremy, we just wanted our own house, I felt like I was living with the ghosts of my past.

"He did try and live there with me a little bit but the rug or the picture or the painting.... I just got rid of everything.

"I just think it's nice to have a fresh start.

"The only thing I would say is I think I held on to it a bit too long because when my dad passed away, I sprinkled some of his ashes in the garden. I was like, I can never sell this house now. I didn't tell the new owners.

"There was a bit of the garden that he liked. I almost felt that 'the spirit of my dad was still there, so I could never sell this house now.' "

When she did finally make the move, Kelly found saying goodbye to her garden a "wrench" because she had put so much work into it.

She said: "I'd spent so much time in my garden and I said to my husband when we were selling it, I could never build a garden like this again because it had been 16 years, and to do that again I wouldn't know where to start.

"So to hand that over was a bit of a wrench, but you have to move on with your life."

Kelly previously admitted she used to "feel like a failure" without children.

She told Prima UK: "In my 20s and 30s, I had miscarriages and past relationships that took their toll on me, physically and emotionally.

"It affected my life, my career and how I looked at myself; it made me feel like a bit of a failure. It made me judge my partners negatively, by how they responded to it. I never had a really positive experience with pregnancies and trying for children."

The Taking Stock star is content being child-free but noted that others can be surprised if she comes across as "blunt" when defending her decision.

She said: "I just got so sick of being asked about it. 'We're not having children' kind of closes off this conversation. I think people are shocked you can be that blunt about it, but that's where we're at."

Kelly was quick to insist that it is "not a bad thing" to have children, but doesn't think that her decision is unique to her.

She added: "And we're not saying that having children is a bad thing. Obviously, it's not, but I don't think I'm alone."
