Business leaders alongside the Mayoral Forum and private sector have taken the unusual step of drafting their own vision for the region, arguing they're done waiting on decisions from Wellington.

Business Canterbury Chief Executive Leeann Watson says the private sector drives the economy so it needs to help define its vision.

She says it seeks to unlock confidence and momentum in the region.
