New Zealand Food Safety says routine tests show the presence of paralytic shellfish toxin is over the limit.
Kaimoana shouldn't be collected from just north of Maketu Beach estuary, to the northern end of Waihi Beach.
Food Safety Deputy Director-General Vincent Arbuckle says cooking shellfish won't remove the toxin.
