Former Gloriavale leader Howard Temple has been denied home detention - and will instead spend more than two years in prison

The 85-year-old has been jailed for 26 months after admitting a series of indecent offences against six girls and young women at the isolated Christian community, spanning two decades.

Herald Reporter Anna Leask says one victim told her she didn't specifically want Temple imprisoned - only that he be held fully to account for his actions.

She says the victim was shocked at the sentence, but pleased the judge had heard them.
