One Battle After Another was among the big winners at this year's Critics Choice Awards, taking home the Best Picture prize

Paul Thomas Anderson's black comedy action thriller picked up the biggest accolade on the night, as well as Best Adapted Screenplay, and the filmmaker also scooped the Best Director gong at the ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on Sunday night (04.01.26).

One Battle After Another defeated Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Jay Kelly, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, Sinners, Train Dreams, and Wicked: For Good to win the Best Picture prize, and Anderson admitted he had the "best time" making the motion picture.

After accepting the Best Picture award, he said: "This is really fantastic, fantastic news. We'll take it.

"A lot of great films. It's great to be in this room. It's great to be a part of all of this. It's great to have this cast behind me.

"I'd say this is the best time I ever had making a movie, and I feel like it shows.

"It's just a testament to being with people that you love.

"Because as somebody said earlier, this is fine and this is fun, but it really is about the people that you work with. That's all that there is at the end of the day."

While the movie won the main prize of the night, it lost out in the Best Actress and Best Actor categories.

Hamnet's Jessie Buckley triumphed over One Battle After Another's Chase Infiniti, as well as If I Had Legs I'd Kick You's Rose Byrne, Sentimental Value star Renate Reinsve, The Testament of Ann Lee actress Amanda Seyfried and Bugonia's Emma Stone.

In her acceptance speech, Jessie gushed over co-star Paul Mescal, saying: "I bloody love you, man.

"I know loads of other women do too, but tough s**t.

"I could drink you like water, working with you every single day.

"You are a giant of the heart. Thank you so much for making me a little bit more human."

Marty Supreme star Timothée Chalamet saw off competition from One Battle After Another's Leonardo DiCaprio in the Best Actor category, and he proclaimed his love for his girlfriend Kylie Jenner.

Other big winners on the night included Netflix megahit Adolescence, which picked up the Best Limited Series accolade as well as three acting awards.

Stephen Graham won Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, 16-year-old Owen Cooper triumphed in the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television category, and their co-star Erin Doherty won Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.

Sinners also had a quadruple success.

Director Ryan Coogler won Best Original Screenplay, and Miles Caton triumphed in the Best Young Actor/ Actress category.

What's more, Ludwig Goransson tasted Best Score victory for his movie soundtrack, and the motion picture's Francine Maisler won Best Casting and Ensemble.

Elsewhere, The Pitt and The Studio both scored hat-tricks at this year's Critics Choice Awards.

The Pitt won Best Drama Series, and Noah Wyle landed the Best Actor in a Drama Series accolade, while his co-star Katherine LaNasa took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series gong.

The Studio also got off to a strong start in 2026, winning Best Comedy Series, and Seth Rogen and Ike Barinholtz won Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series respectively.
