Martha Stewart has dismissed speculation that she has had plastic surgery

The 84-year-old lifestyle mogul is puzzled that people don't believe her denials about going under the knife because she is "the most honest person on earth".

Discussing the launch of her skincare line Elm Biosciences, Martha told People: "Everybody insists that I've had plastic surgery and I have not ever had plastic surgery. I'm the most honest person on earth - but if they won't take my word for it, I don't know.

"How can they not take my word for it? That's the truth."

Stewart recalled how she had to have some cosmetic work done after receiving a facial injury from one of her dogs, although she doesn't consider that to be plastic surgery.

She said: "I had to be at Today at 7 a.m. and there was a big blizzard. I leaned down in my dark kitchen to kiss the dogs goodbye. I put my head down to one of my French bulldogs and I frightened her and she bolted up.

"She didn't bite me. She bashed my lip into my tooth and split it from my lip almost all the way to my nose and blood started gushing out all over the dog. This is 11 p.m. in a blizzard. This is the only time I've ever missed an appearanc

The businesswoman said that she requested a plastic surgeon "right away" to help her with the injuries to her face.

Martha said: "I get to the hospital and I think they did 16 stitches in my lip. I can't call that plastic surgery, that is a repair. It's a terrible, terrible, terrible split lip... you cannot see. I healed so well. That is the extent of a plastic surgeon working on my face.

"That is the only time I've ever had a plastic surgeon touch my face."

Meanwhile, it was revealed last month that the star had become a minority owner of the Welsh football club Swansea City - following in the footsteps of her good friend Snoop Dogg and Croatian football icon Luka Modric.

A statement on behalf of the Championship team's ownership group said: "We are delighted to confirm Martha, who has built a long and successful career as America's leading homemaking and lifestyle expert, has followed Snoop and Luka Modric in becoming a minority owner of our football club.

"We are very excited to welcome Martha on board."
