Peter Andre was scared of turning 50 because he worried it meant he was "getting old"

The former pop star celebrated the landmark birthday in 2023 but he was initially worried about reaching the milestone and didn't feel better until after the big day had passed.

In his column for new! magazine, he explained: "I thought it meant I was getting old, but the day after my birthday, I breathed a sigh of relief. I said to [my wife] Emily that I felt like I could start caring more about the things I should care about, and less about the things I don't need to.

"That does come with maturity, I guess. I always care what my family think, That's the most important thing to me. "

The singer - who is currently touring the UK in a production of The Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons - went on to reveal his hopes for the year ahead explaining he's planning a visit to Australia to visit his parents as his mother Thea is battling Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

He added: "I'm going back to Australia at some point. I really miss my mum and dad so much, as well as my sister, who also lives in Australia, and my nephew. But for me it's mainly mum at this stage.

"As soon as the Frankie Valli tour is finished, I will be on the plane to go and see them. I speak to my dad once a day, but I speak to mum twice a day because she is now unable to speak, so, I like to reiterate what I'm trying to say.

"I want her to hear me say that I love her more than once a day. I can have a long conversation with my dad, but with mum, I guess, it's sadly different. I love it, it's everything to me."

Peter previously revealed he was unable to visit Thea during her stint in hospital in 2024 because his wife Emily had just given birth to their daughter - so his two eldest kids - Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, from his marriage to Katie Price - flew Down Under to visit her.

He paid tribute to the youngsters for rushing to see their new baby sister and then getting on a plane to go visit their grandparents.

In a post on social media, he wrote: "Junior and princess. The fact that you drove to Somerset to be with us hours before and the days that followed to see the arrival of your baby sister, AND THEN to get on a plane and travel 12,000 miles to be with your grandmother in a very difficult time for her shows me what beautiful children you are.

"I will never forget this moment. Thank you for being truly amazing. Love you all so much. Keep cuddling mum for me please and tell her I love her and we will come out soon."
