Neil Sedaka has reportedly been hospitalised after apparently falling ill at his home

The 87-year-old singer is said to have been taken by ambulance for treatment on Friday (27.02.26) morning, and was apparently transported from his residence at about 8am after feeling unwell.

According to TMZ, who first reported he had been hospitalised, he remains in his ward recovering, although specific details about his condition have not been disclosed.

A representative for Neil did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Page Six.

Neil rose to prominence in the late 1950s and 1960s with a string of chart-topping singles, including Breaking Up Is Hard to Do and Calendar Girl.

Over the course of his career, he was nominated for five Grammy awards between 1959 and 1977 and was later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in recognition of his songwriting achievements.

Before establishing himself as a solo artist, Neil began his career as a member of The Tokens in the 1950s.

The doo-wop group later found success with The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Neil went on to build a prolific catalogue of hits and has continued performing in the decades since.

The singer has been married to Leba Strassberg since 1962.

They have two adult children, daughter Dara and son Marc.

In September, Neil shared a video on Instagram featuring his grandchildren, describing their relationship as a "special kind of love".

Neil remains active on social media, where he regularly posts footage of himself performing his classic songs for fans.

In recent months, he has continued to share throwback performances and updates from home.

At this stage, no further details about Neil's hospitalisation have been made public.

Neil's career has spanned more than six decades.

Rising to fame in the late 1950s and early 1960s, he became one of the defining voices of the early pop era with hits such as Oh! Carol, Calendar Girl and Breaking Up Is Hard to Do - the latter becoming a No. 1 single twice in two different arrangements.

Trained in classical piano from a young age, he combined melodic craftsmanship with a keen instinct for commercial pop, often collaborating with lyricist Howard Greenfield.

Neil was briefly a member of The Tokens before launching his solo career.

After a dip in popularity in the late 1960s, he enjoyed a major resurgence in the 1970s with songs including Laughter in the Rain and Bad Blood.

Over the years, he has been nominated for multiple Grammy awards and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
