Nicole Kidman learned how to perform an autopsy for her new TV show

The 58-year-old actress plays forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta in upcoming series Scarpetta and she learned how to remove organs from a body to analyse how a person died as part of her research into the role.

Speaking on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, she said: "I can do an autopsy. I can, if I needed to, I can do the autopsy. I can remove all the organs, I can name them all...

"I can remove the lungs and the liver and the gallbladder, and I can test them."

Asked how she learned, she added: "It's part of the job, I worked with an incredible medical examiner and I studied them."

Meanwhile, Nicole - who has Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, with first husband Tom Cruise, and Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14, with ex-husband Keith Urban - revealed she didn't earn a penny from her iconic AMC Theaters advertisement, which premiered in September 2021 and was designed to encourage people back to the cinema after the COVID-19 pandemic.

She revealed: "I had no idea that thing was gonna work. We did it out of the purest of intentions.

"Billy Ray who is a writer friend of mine, I said, 'Should we do this? We need to help the theatres'.

"It was during COVID when we did it. The crew that I was working with on Being the Ricardos, I said, 'Would you guys be willing to do this?' Jeff Cronenweth, the DP, said he'd direct it.

"[I] called in all these favours. We did it for nothing, and then it went off."

Nicole doesn't like imposing herself and her ideas on other people. However, the Babygirl actress previously revealed that she's happy to share her personal experiences with anyone who wants her advice.

Nicole told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "I'm not big on telling people what to do, but I'm more than happy to share. Then, people can take tidbits, because we all know you tell somebody to do something, and they're going to do what they want to do anyway. That's true, right?

"So it's more about sharing your own experiences, saying this is what I've learned, take from it what you will."
