Oranga Tamariki had been anonymously contacted with concerns about a boy ... whose death is the focus of a homicide investigation

The 10-month-old from Manurewa died at Starship Hospital this month from head injuries that police say are non-accidental.

Oranga Tamariki deputy chief executive Glynis Sandland says the organisation became involved shortly before the boy died.

She says it was looking into those concerns and gathering information form the family.

Sandland has confirmed other children from the home are with wider family members - with support measures to keep them safe.
