JoJo Siwa has spent thousands on her girlfriend for her birthday

The 21-year-old star has been dating So You Think You Can Dance' runner-up Dakayala Wilson, 18, since August and even though it is "not about the money", she still made sure to splash the cash on the significant other for her with a trip to Hawaii over the weekend for her special day

She told E! News: "We're about to take her on the best birthday extravaganza, we're going to Hawaii. It's going to be a lot of fun. But look, it's not about the money. It's about the person, it's about the time and the thing you do and the experience."

According to the outlet, the 'Karma' hitmaker has spent a total of $30,000 on the celebrations for Dakayla, who turns 19 on Friday (11.10.24).

The former 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant - who has built up a reported net worth of $20 million since beginning her career as a child on 'Dance Moms' and as a regular face on Nickldeon before more recently carving out a pop career - met Dakayala on the set of the Fox reality show when she was a judge and claimed that the pair are "very madly in love" just two months into their relationship.

She said: "She was on the dance floor. I was not. I was chilling in a judge's chair. She was crushing it, she placed second in the show. We are very madly in love. She is a very, very special girl. I'm very lucky to have her in my life."

JoJo was then asked what it was that attracted to her to Dakayla, and explained that it was her the "perspective" she has on life in general that she noticed first.

She said: "Her work ethic. The way that she opens up and the way that I've seen her in the last three months be able to shift her perspective on life and take deeper breaths and grow as a human being the way she grows as a human being. It's a beautiful thing to see because it's not easy to grow.

    "And her lips, they're cute!"
