Kristen Doute struggled to come to terms with her miscarriage because there were "no answers" for her

The 42-year-old reality star was expecting a baby with her partner Luke Broderick but started to lose the little one when she and her husband were away and when she eventually got to her doctor, she just couldn't understand why the tragedy had happened

Speaking on the 'Infertile AF: Infertility and Modern Family Building' podcast, she explained: "I woke up in the morning and I started bleeding.

"There was a little bit of tissue that had passed. It wasn't anything crazy, but it was enough to scare me. We were nowhere near my doctor - really, we were nowhere near any doctor.

"When my labs came back, my progesterone was just nothing - something else I knew nothing about. I didn't even know what hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) meant, I just knew it meant I'm pregnant or I'm not pregnant.

"I remember asking my doctor, 'Why? What happened?' And he's like, 'This is just one of those things where there is no answer to the why.

"Just trying to deal with the fact that there is no f****** answer to this. And that's the hardest part."

The 'Vanderpump Rules' star is now expecting again but admitted that she couldn't "react" in the way that she had hoped because of what had gone before.

She said: "It was hard to feel happy. I was happy, but I didn't react the way I thought I was gonna react. I didn't react the same way I reacted the first time we found out we were pregnant, where that was like a rom-com movie reaction."

Kristen - who is expecting a little girl - recently explained that she and her partner decided to trying again early last year and thought at the time that her age could be a "factor" in their struggles.

She told PEOPLE at the time: "After our pregnancy loss last year, we decided to start trying in early 2024. I knew my age could be a factor in conceiving, so Luke and I discussed going for an extra push, a little help."

Kristen and Luke turned to a fertility specialist in a bid to have a child together.

The TV star shared: "In late summer, we decided to meet with a fertility specialist to learn about our options and what could be the next step if we decided to go that route. The next month was a whirlwind - getting educated on fertility, and eventually hormone shots and preparing my body for IUI (intrauterine insemination)."
