The Garden city is hosting the event in December, so Air NZ is boosting flights to help athletes and supporters travel to the Games.

The airline is also adding more than 92-thousand seats to its Auckland, Christchurch route between November and March, a boost of 11 percent.

Air NZ's Domestic General Manager, Kate O'Brien says they're seeing real demand for the city.

She says they're looking to add capacity to support tourism operators events, and the regional economies in Christchurch and beyond.
