New home building consents were significantly higher last year than the year before

Stats NZ data shows almost 37-thousand new homes were consented annually by November - a seven-percent rise.
The rise was driven by an increase in multi-unit dwellings.
49-percent more apartments were consented.
26-percent more retirement village units and 9.6 percent more townhouses, flats and units also got approved.
