Tesla dismisses claims its vehicle's sometimes accelerate without warning, saying they're false claims by stock speculators

Electric car company Tesla has dismissed claims its vehicles sometimes accelerate without warning, saying they're false claims by speculators trying to spook the price of shares

About 100 complaints have been filed with a US safety agency, claiming Teslas have been involved in numerous crashes because of unexpected acceleration.

Tesla says the complaints are the work of a short-seller, who's trying to make money by sending the share price lower.

The company says the claims are completely false.
