Defending Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki is eager to make the most of his pole position in this afternoon's Bathurst 1000

Defending Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki is eager to make the most of his pole position in this afternoon's Bathurst 1000

The 26-year-old Aussie has become just the sixth driver in history to claim consecutive Bathurst poles.

But Kostecki fell by the wayside in last year's race, blaming a lack of direction.

Reigning Bathurst champ Richie Stanaway will start 4th on the grid, with fellow Kiwis Matt Payne in 7th, Andre Heimgartner 10th and Ryan Wood 14th.

    Racing gets underway at 1.30.
