Kelsea Ballerini wears a wig on stage

The 31-year-old country singer often sports blonde, flowing locks during live performances but took to social media on Thursday (17.04.25) night to reveal that she has decided to "protect" her natural hair, and jokingly referred to herself as Miley Cyrus's former alter-ego

Alongside a video of backstage, she wrote on TikTok: "Protected my hair, felt like Hannah Montana, and got the after-show nickname Rufus. Last night of the tour shed."

'Hannah Montana' was the Disney Channel series that propelled Miley Cyrus to global fame in the late 2000s, and in it she starred in the titular role as a schoolgirl who wore a long blonde wig so she could live a double life as a world-famous pop star.

Kelsea added the Hannah Montana track 'This Is The Life' to her video, which appeared in the pilot episode of the sitcom and was included on the soundtrack for the show's first season in 2006.

In the video, a hair and makeup artist removes Kelsea's blonde wig to reveal that her natural, shorter hair had been plaited and scooped up into a wig cap before the show.

Towards the end of her tour, a fan named Dani Krapf had made Kelsea a pair of bedazzled boots and managed to pass them to the singer from the crowd while she performed the song 'Penthouse' during her stop in Oklahoma.

After Kelsea wore them on stage, Dani told People: "As she walked over to talk to me about the boots, I just couldn't believe it. I have looked up to her for years and [thought], the woman that helped heal me is seeing me, loving the boots that I made.

"I wanted to cry happy tears. Watching her not just wear them but show them off on stage even though they were too big [the pair were in Krapf's shoe size] was the most surreal moment of my life.

"One day I hope I get the meet her to be able to tell her my story on how she has healed me.

"Her storytelling through music has always seemed so genuine and very relatable. She isn't afraid to tell her story even if it's hard and makes you feel like you can get through anything."
