Police spent Saturday night in a cat-and-mouse chase with hundreds of boy racers across Auckland

Police spent Saturday night in a cat-and-mouse chase with hundreds of boy racers across Auckland

Illegal vehicles met up in several locations across the city, performing burnouts and shooting fireworks at each stop before disbanding when authorities arrived.

Officers pursued the vehicles, with a helicopter tracking the drivers from above.

Police on the ground were told to hold back until the illegal driving had stopped.

The final meeting spot was at the intersection of Waikato's State Highway 2 and Rawiri Rd.
