Mindy Kaling wished she cared less about weighing herself as a youngster

The 46-year-old actress-and-comedienne reflected on the one piece of wellness advice she would give to her younger self

In a chat with Shop Today, uploaded to TikTok, the interviewer asked Mindy: "What is the one piece of wellness advice that you'd give to your younger self?"

The Office star admitted: "Don't worry about the scale."

In 2022, Mindy shared that her mentality and fitness routine helped her shed weight.

She told People: "I've tried really hard to let go of this idea of losing weight for vanity reasons and really trying to think of how I can be healthy.

"And for me, healthy is working out, moving my body a lot, keeping hydrated, and then not having negative connotations around working out and making me feel like if I don't do this, then I won't be something else.

"And that's taken a long time to kind of shed those old ideas of working out."

Also that year, The Mindy Project alum revealed she did not restrict her diet because it "never really worked", and did not change it up following the birth of her son Spencer in September 2020.

The star - who also has daughters Katherine, seven, and Anne, 20 months, and has decided to keep the identity of her children's dad private - told Entertainment Tonight: "I eat what I like to eat. If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it.

"I wish there was something more juicy or dynamic about the way that I've lost a little bit of weight, but that's the way I've done it."

Speaking about Katherine, Mindy continued: "After I had my daughter, I had to shoot a movie like two months later, so I was very much like, 'Just give me grilled salmon and sautéed spinach. I'm going to eat that for three months.'"

The Inside Out actress had Spencer during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she described the quarantine as "extended maternity leave".

Mindy said: "It was this almost extended maternity leave. I wasn't going to be on camera, the studios were shut down."

And the star was relieved that the pandemic allowed her to spend months of her pregnancy with Spencer in total privacy.

In 2021, Mindy told Access: "I felt really scrutinised during my first pregnancy, and I think that it was such a joy to spend the last seven months of my pregnancy under the cover of just nobody was out, nobody was taking photos."
